Vertex Chambers represented a South African financial technology

April 12, 2026

Vertex Chambers represented a South African financial technology company in a successful parent-subsidiary creditor’s winding up proceedings before the Company Bench of the High Court Division of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh. Judgments in winding up proceedings are rare in Bangladesh. This judgment is the first case in Bangladesh company law jurisprudence dealing with the court’s power to appoint official liquidator as per the nomination of the creditor. The judgment also contains important clarification regarding the proper statutory provision that applies to final dissolution of a company under the Company’s Act 1994. Vertex Chambers appeared in both sides of the parent company and the subsidiary. The creditor was represented by our Managing Partner and Senior Advocate Junayed Chowdhury assisted by Senior Associate Maliha Ahmed. The subsidiary was represented by our Partner, Tanvir Quader.
